Biography

I'm currently a Ph. D. student in the department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois. I currently study the role of kinematics in re-organizing snowfall beneath cloud-top generating cells in midlatitude winter storms and am currently participating in the NASA-EPSO IMPACTS field campaign. I hope to understand, with a three-part study, how precipitation originating at cloud-top relates, via kinematics, to low-level snow bands. I received my M.S. degree back in 2018 at UIUC as well with my research focusing on the finescale structure of a nor'easter using HIAPER Cloud Radar (HCR) data and WRF thermodynamic overlays.

Before my graduate work, I received a B.S. in Meteorology at SUNY Oswego in 2015. I participated and performed research on the OWLeS project during my final two years there focusing on high-resolution WRF modeling of lake effect snow bands.

Research Interests

My current research interests include: radar remote sensing, extratropical cyclones, high-resolution modeling (WRF), simple modeling (kinematic model scripted in Python), mesoscale snow bands, cloud-top generating cells, and finescale frontal structure.
